Plateel - en Tegelbakkerij De Distel was one of those companies which produced different and often opposite design styles,
ranging from the floral Art Nouveau (especially visible in their hand-decorated tiles) in the early years, to abstract-linear as well as
geometric Constructive designs. Acquired by Goedewaagen in 1923 it provided the platform much needed by the latter which allowed the Gouda based Goedewaagen to compete with the other significant plateel potteries in town.
