Founded in 1919, E.S.K.A.F. (Eerste Steenwijker Kunst Aardewerk Fabriek) was probably located further from Gouda than any other Dutch plateel pottery. Even so, they set out to manufacture their diverse and colourful products, affordable to all. Although having produced an extensive range of quite varied designs, ‘Eskaf’ was also one of the many factories which failed to survive the pre-war crisis years and sadly was declared bankrupt in 1935 after already having been relocated to Huizen in 1927.
