Goedewaagen's Hollandsche Pijpen- en Aardewerkfabrieken definitely bought into several styles and ceramic histories when it acquired the Amsterdam based Plateel - en Tegelbakkerij De Distel in 1923. The fact that it still exists today and survived all of the difficult times is not surprising when considering that it always remained extremely versatile and continued to produce those objects which met the needs of the public, ranging from utility wares to the most fantastic decorative earthenware.
