The Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland, the biggest and commercially most successful plateel factory of all times, has led the way from 1898 onwards. Founded on and initially entirely relying on the skills and achievements of the existing Art Nouveau plateel potteries it soon found its feet and set new trends for years to come. With its commercial drive, success and innovative ideas it inspired many new potteries and was the catalyst for the existing pipe-makers to change course and transform to include plateel production into their portfolios.
